The Police Department employs one community service officer (CSO). Duties include the investigation and abatement of abandoned vehicles within the city, animal control and ordinance enforcement, and support of police fleet maintenance.
The CSO investigate reports of abandoned vehicles and monitor and remove those vehicles as needed. The CSO also provides support for the department’s fleet by assisting daily with monitoring maintenance and by transferring fleet vehicles for maintenance or repairs. When needed, the community service officer assists with school crossing guard duties.
The CSO responds to a variety of animal complaints, including loose animals, nuisance animals, neglected and abused animals, and animal bite reports. The CSO conducts more in-depth investigations of some complaints and issues citations for violations of city ordinances.
