Video Gaming Ordinance Amendment - License Limit

On November 7, 2017, the Moline City Council adopted an ordinance to limit the number of licenses for video gaming establishments within the City.  This action was prompted by the increasing number of requests for these establishments and various concerns expressed by the City's residents as to the detriments of gambling.  The ordinance limits the number of licenses issued to thirty (30).  It allows existing licenses to continue as long as they are in compliance with applicable state and local laws.  Applications that were pending at the time of the ordinance adoption will be allowed to continue through the application and licensing process; these only include currently pending City or State of Illinois liquor license applications for proposed video gaming establishments and pending City or State of Illinois video gaming applications.  To view the ordinance in full, see Council Bill/General Ordinance No. 3043-2017.
