[ARCHIVED] Moline Police Investigate "Sexting" at Moline High School

Several students at Moline High School were interviewed by Moline Police investigators last week regarding nude photos of female students that were shared on cell phones with fellow students.
Police found the pictures had been distributed to a large number of students. The female students involved consensually sent pictures to a friend but later discovered the images had been passed around.

The Moline Police reviewed the images and spoke with both the female students and their families, along with the individual students who had the images on their phones.

The case in this instance was not considered criminal in nature. It does amplify a lack of education of the potential consequences and penalties involved in the possession or transferring of these types of photographs.

The Moline Police Department and the Moline School District are working together on educating teens and their parents about the dangers of sexting and its potential consequences.
