On April 23rd, 2013, at approximately 2:00 am, the Moline Fire Department was dispatched to 1861 19th Avenue for a fire in a two story wood frame residence. The fire was reported by a neighbor.
There were four residents at home when the fire broke out who were able to evacuate prior to the Fire Department’s arrival. No injuries were reported.
The first fire crew arrived in three minutes to find active fire on the front porch which had breached a window and was spreading to the first floor. There was also a vehicle in the driveway which caught fire due to the close proximity.
The fire was brought under control within nine minutes. The damage to the structure was contained to the front porch, minor fire damage to the first floor and minor smoke damage to the entire structure.
The cause of the fire was determined to be discarded smoking materials on the front porch.
The Moline Fire Department was assisted by the Moline Police Department.
