Mayor Raes appoints Janet Bender as 3rd Ward Alderman to fill the vacancy created when he was elected as Mayor. Alderman Bender was sworn in on June 4, 2013, and her term will expire at the end of April 2015. She grew up in Moline, graduated from Western Illinois University and works at the Rock Island Arsenal.
Ms. Bender has been actively involved in the Wheelock/Velie Neighborhood Association for 10 years and is committed to the City of Moline. "I am eager to become even more involved in the City and look forward to working with Staff and City Council."
