8. I do not want to pay sewer charges when I water my lawn or fill my swimming pool.

A separate meter must be installed. You would need to hire a licensed plumber and a plumbing permit must be obtained from Code Enforcement Division at the Municipal Services Center, 3635 - 4th Avenue. You must go to the Moline Finance Office, at 1630 - 8th Avenue, to pay a set up fee and make arrangements for the meter to be installed. Call 309.524.2070 for more information.

9. Where can I find information about my property assessment?

The City of Moline has no involvement in the assessment process. Moline is divided into two townships: Moline Township and South Moline Township. To determine which township you reside in, please refer to your property tax bill.

10. Why is my City Utility bill higher than usual?

Be aware that your water consumption will be higher if during that billing quarter you:

• Watered landscaping
• Had overnight guests
• Major holidaysThe most common culprit...a "running" toilet. To test for a running toilet; put food coloring in the back of the toilet tank and wait 30 minutes without flushing. If colored water appears in the bowl of the toilet, the toilet is using water unnecessarily and needs new parts

11. How do I shut off my water service?

To shut off your water, call the Water Division at 309.524.2300. There will not be a charge to turn the water off and back on between the hours of 7:00 am and 2:45 pm, Monday through Friday. After 3:00 pm on weekdays and on weekends, there will be an overtime charge.

If the City plans to turn off your water for any reason, you should be notified in advance. Please call the Water Division at 309.524.2300 to report the problem.

To cancel your water service, call the Accounts & Finance Department at 309.524.2070 to set up a service order for a final read.

12. How do I register my backyard chickens (hens)?

After determining your property qualifies for backyard chickens, the application below needs to be filled out and brought to the Finance Department, 1630 8th Avenue, with a non refundable $25 fee. If you have any questions, please contact Finance at 309.524.2070.
