Property "lines" are determined by the location of property markers or boundary monuments placed on a property. Markers are metal pins placed in the ground at every corner of the property, including any angle, intersection, or change of direction of the boundary line. Pins may include a plastic cap with surveyor identification information. Markers should be shown on the original and all subsequent survey plats of a property. The most accurate and reliable method to determine a property boundary is to hire a registered land surveyor to perform a survey of your property. The surveyor is licensed to perform such work and can locate any existing pins and replace any that are missing. Please do not remove property pins. The City of Moline does not locate private property lines nor resolve property line disputes. Property owners may attempt to locate property markers themselves to estimate the location of property lines. South Moline Township and Moline Township offices maintain tax parcel maps which show the recorded property dimensions for all lots of record. Visit the City of Moline's Citizen Information Map. After you accept the legal agreement / disclaimer, search by address or use the map zoom tools to locate a property or general area in Moline. Check the 'Zoning' layer box in the Table of Contents window to activate the zoning data layer. Zoning classifications are labeled and distinguished by multiple colors on the map. Home based businesses and home occupations classified as minor, without nonresident customers and employees, are allowed in all zoning districts which allow residential uses and are in compliance with the required zoning requirements. A permit is not required for minor home occupations meeting the required limitations. Other home occupations classified as major, where customers and employees may come to the home, may be allowed if certain regulations are met and a Special Use permit is granted. Includes any occasional sale of personal property at a residence or non-commercial property by one or more families in a neighborhood or by a group, including, but not limited to garage sales, yard sales, rummage sales, attic sales, auctions, estate sales, and moving sales. A permit is not required for sales provided that the following regulations are met. Regulations:
RVs not meeting these size limitations may not be stored anywhere on a residential property but may be parked for up to 24 hours for loading, unloading, and maintenance purposes. This exception is allowed twice per week when 30 hours separates each occurrence. Click here for a printable RV handout
Corrugated metal wall panels/siding and plywood wall panels/siding are not allowed on any building facade. High quality architectural metals and engineered wood or masonry panels may be allowed with review and approval from the zoning administrator.
Primary red, yellow, and blue colors are prohibited as a wall and roofing color on all building facades in residential districts and also prohibited as a roofing color in office districts.
