Licensed Lead Contractors
New Lead Law Going into Effect
The building department is
reminding all area contractors that if they are paid to
replace windows or renovate residential houses,
apartments and child-occupied facilities built before
1978 then they must be certified by the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency. For more information
about public meetings that the Illinois Department of
Public Health Lead Program is holding please contact the
Illinois Lead Program at 217-782-3517 or check out the
news release that they sent out on January 30th 2010.
To all local contractors:
Due to new federal regulations
pertaining to the Renovation, Repair and Painting Lead
Law effective April 22, 2010; our office will be
requiring all registered contractors to provide a
Renovation Certification before obtaining buildings
permits after April 22, 2010. For more information
