Neighborhood Partnership Committee
The Moline City Council has identified "quality neighborhoods"
as one of its top goals. In support of this goal, City staff has
formed the Neighborhood Partnership Committee (NPC)
as a collaborative effort to assist Moline residents in
neighborhood improvement efforts. NPC's role is to provide
neighborhood associations (which are made up of Moline
residents) with guidance, information, and assistance to better
their respective neighborhoods.
Mission Statement:
NPC partners with city residents to
enhance the quality of life and improve neighborhoods by
supporting and working with neighborhood associations and
efficiently and effectively delivering city services.
Goals
of the NPC include making neighborhoods safer and cleaner,
building a strong partnership and improving communication with
residents, and improving the attractiveness, appearance and
infrastructure of neighborhoods.
The NPC
has participated in the development of several neighborhood
associations, provided informational question and answer forums
for residents, assisted in the coordination of annual neighborhood cleanups,
and created a "Neighbor of the Month" program to recognize
outstanding residential and commercial property improvements or
maintenance. The NPC has also established the "Neighborhood
Grant Program". Under certain criteria, the grant program can
provide financial assistance to organized neighborhood
associations for events, activities, signs, etc.
Currently, Moline has
five established neighborhoods and
is actively assisting other neighborhoods in the organization process.
Active neighborhoods include:
Overlook Historic Neighborhood Association, Wheelock/Velie Neighborhood Watch
& Partnership Committee, Bluffs Neighborhood Watch Group, Greater Willard Area Neighborhood
Association, Stephens Parkview Neighborhood Association, Stewartville
Neighborhood Association and Floreciente
Neighborhood Association.
