New Lead Law Going into Effect
The building department is reminding all area contractors that if they are paid to replace windows or renovate residential houses, apartments and child-occupied facilities built before 1978 then they must be certified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. For more information about public meetings that the Illinois Department of Public Health Lead Program is holding please contact the Illinois Lead Program at 217-782-3517 or check out the news release that they sent out on January 30th, 2010.

Building/Inspections ensures life safety from fire and other hazards in residential and commercial construction through plan review, permits, inspections, and contractor registration according to minimum requirements of adopted codes, ordinances, and State laws. Building/Inspections provides assistance in removal of public nuisances from neighborhoods, such as weeds, trash, junk, etc. Businesses or organizations selling and/or serving food to the general public are required to be licensed and inspected to protect public health from food-borne illnesses. Information on codes, registration and licensing, plan review and permit processing, fee schedules, and nuisance abatement can be found on this site.

Location and Office Hours:

Building/Inspections is located at the Municipal Services Center, 3635 - 4th Avenue, Moline.  The office is open from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Residents can meet with inspectors personally in the office from 7:00-8:00 a.m. and 12:00-12:30 p.m. The inspectors are in the field performing inspections the rest of each day. Contact Building/Inspections at 309-524-2370.
