The City Administrator is responsible for the overall management of the City of Moline and receives broad direction and policy from the Mayor and City Council. The City Administrator develops and implements management programs designed to enhance workforce productivity, improve service delivery and maximize efficiencies. The Administrator is responsible for the daily operations of all City activities, provides strong management support for all department directors and continually keeps the Mayor and City Council informed of critical information.

 

As Chief Administrative Office of the City, the Administrator is charged with developing the annual budget for consideration and approval by the City Council. In addition, the Administrator is extensively involved with a wide variety of economic development activities, is a member of the Board of Directors of the Quad Cities Civic Center Authority and serves on the I-74 Bridge Steering Committee.

 

 

Meet the City Administrator

 

Lew Steinbrecher has served as the Moline City Administrator since October 2004. He has 30 years experience in municipal administration. Prior to joining the City of Moline, he served as City Manager for the City of Kent, Ohio. 

His extensive experience includes personnel management, intergovernmental relations, land use planning and zoning, grant writing, community and economic development, labor relations, redevelopment of blighted areas, public works and utility operations, budgeting and finance, communications, project management and municipal administration. 

Mr. Steinbrecher holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Resource Development from Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan and a Master of Science in Administration degree from Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. 

Lew has two children. His hobbies include golf, fishing, reading, lighthouses and Civil War history.
