Leaf Burning
LEAF
BURNING POLICY
Through September 17, 2009, citizens of Moline may
burn lawn and leaf refuse on Mondays, Wednesdays
and Saturdays only, during daylight hours,
providing atmospheric conditions permit. Atmospheric
conditions means that burning is prohibited
anytime the wind speed exceeds 15 mph.
Please note that effective September 18, 2009,
burning will no longer be allowed within the City.
The burn ban includes leaves, tree branches and grass
clippings.
Additional criteria
must be considered before burning:
-
All burning shall
take place between sunrise and sunset ONLY!
(there are exceptions made for recreational type
fires such as wiener roasts but they must meet
all other criteria!)
-
All fires must be
a MINIMUM of 25 feet from any structure.
-
All fires MUST
have a charged hose available and be attended at
ALL times.
-
Burning is
prohibited during rainy or drought conditions.
-
All materials
being burned must be dry and burn cleanly.
-
Permitted
materials allowed to be burned are: lawn and
leaf refuse, twigs, and small sticks. THAT IS
ALL.
-
Materials NOT
permitted include but are not limited to: any
construction materials, garbage or refuse,
furniture, standing structures, tree piles, etc.
Should you have a
question regarding your permitted items to be
burned or if you are unsure if it is safe to
burn, you may call the Fire Administrative
office at (309) 797-0416, Monday - Friday 7:30
