Rental Housing
Inspections Program

The Rental Housing Inspection Program was implemented in 2007 to
promote and protect the health, safety and welfare of residents
by providing for the registration of rental units, buildings and
properties, and the periodic inspection to ensure such
properties meet the minimum standards established by the City's
housing, electric, mechanical, plumbing and other property
maintenance-related codes.
The City’s rental database consists of approximately 500
inspected properties, supplemented by approximately *650 listed
properties. To date, 97% of registered properties have met or
exceeded the minimum property maintenance standards adopted by
the City.
As a result of the program, relationships have developed with
other municipalities, housing authorities, placement services,
residents, and property owners, to initiate proactive
performance ensuring tenants and citizens of safe, quality
housing. Meet and Greet forums have also been established
to educate property owners and continue the City’s rapport with
the community.
