Mission Statement:

 

The Law Department provides accurate, reliable and ethical legal counsel to the City of Moline, including the City Council, the Mayor and City Staff.  In fulfilling this vision, the Department represents the interests of the City through preventative law, code compliance, neighborhood partnership and dynamic and professional litigation.

 

Description of Department and Services:

 

The Law Department is responsible for providing a full range of legal services to the City, including legal advice and ordinance enforcement.  The Law Department, through the Neighborhood Improvement Officer's position, performs the lead role in the prevention, enforcement and abatement of housing, nuisance, vegetation, zoning and sign code violations.  The Law Department is not authorized to give legal advice to the general public, although it is available to answer inquiries about the appropriate City department when allegations of ordinance violations are received, or as other requests for services are generated.
