Transportation

Moline businesses have ready access to a host of transportation options to facilitate both domestic and international business.

 

Land

Interstates 74, 280, 88 and 80 put 57 million consumers within overnight trucking delivery provided by more than 130 carriers with locations in Moline and the Quad Cities.

 

Air

The Quad City International Airport, the third largest airport in Illinois is proudly located in Moline and serves the regional Quad City area. Currently, five airlines offer non-stop flights to eight cities, including  Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Denver, Detroit, Memphis, Minneapolis/St. Paul, and Orlando, with numerous connections available. Elliott Aviation, a private charter service, maintains its home base at the Quad City International Airport.  Other private charter services are located in the Quad Cities.

 

Five air freight carriers serve the airport – Airborne, Blackhawk Freight, BAX Global, DHL:, and Emery Worldwide.

 

The Quad Cities is licensed as a foreign trade zone and the Quad City International Airport is a U.S. Customs Port of Entry.

 

Water

The Mississippi River is open to navigation 10 months of the year from upper Midwestern U.S. to the Gulf of Mexico.  Moline’s served by river barge operations with intermodal capabilities for efficient and expedite service to domestic and international markets.  There are 50 public and private barge terminals equipped to handle diverse cargos.

 

Rail

Four railroad companies serve Moline and Quad City businesses and industry:  Burlington Northern, Soo Line, Iowa Interstate, and Davenport Rock Island & Northwestern.


The Quad City Passenger Rail Coalition is currently working with the Illinois Department of Transportation and Amtrak to restore passenger rail service between Chicago and the Quad Cities.  Click here Read more about the Quad Cities Amtrak Station. 

Amtrak rail offers convenient service to downtown Chicago via the Princeton, Illinois, Amtrak station. The Princeton station is just south of interstate I-80, with free parking available.
