Historic Preservation Commission

The Moline Historic
Preservation Commission was created by Ordinance on
December 17, 1991 with the first members seated in June
of 1992. This commission seeks to promote and
enhance the educational, cultural and economic welfare
of the City and its citizens by pursuing the
identification and preservation of the community's
historically significant resources.

Historic District
In 2007, a 33 acre district
in Downtown Moline was placed on the National Register
of Historic Places. Here is a description of the
district's architectural and historic significance.
Moline Historic Landmarks
Thus far, the City has designated eleven buildings as
Historic Landmarks. Here you will find images, locations
and brief histories for each of them.

Historic Preservation Resources
Many resources exist to support inquiries and research on
the historic significance of structures and
neighborhoods. Here are some local, state and federal
sources of information.
Facade Improvement Program
The City of Moline provides
financial assistance to property owners for the
rehabilitation of structure facades, with the intention
of emphasizing and highlighting the historic character
of buildings. Guidelines and the application
process are given here.
MHPC meets the second
Monday of every month from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. in the
Committee-of-the-Whole room, located on the 2nd floor of
City Hall.
