New Moline Police Department Headquarters
In August 2001, the architectural firm of PSA Dewberry was chosen by the City of Moline to conduct a space needs assessment for the Moline Police Department.
Conducted in 2002, the space needs assessment indicated a need to double the square footage of the existing facility.
In March of 2002, a Request for Proposal for Architectural
Services was published. In May, 2002, PSA was selected to perform architectural
services for the project.
In September of 2004, project bids were submitted by contractors. All bids were over the proposed budget.
The City held meetings with the architectural firm and
contractors that initially bid on the project in an attempt to
identify areas to reduce construction costs. A redesign
was completed on portions of the facility to reduce costs.
Bids were resent to prospective contractors in January of
2005.
Prequalification of bidders took
place in December. The bid was awarded to General Constructors
for $10.6 million.

Construction of the new Police Headquarters began in April of 2005
and was completed in December of 2006. The new 67,000 square foot
facility is located at 1640 - 6th
Avenue. Included in this facility are patrol operations,
administrative offices, criminal investigations, a
jail area,
vehicle parking and the city's alternate emergency operations center.
Future developments will include a premier indoor shooting
range. Total project cost was $12.5
million.
A dedication event was held on January
31, 2007, and the new facility is now open.
