About the Contest:
In an effort to make its
annual water quality report more interesting and
appealing to the families that rely on Moline’s tap
water every day, the City of Moline partnered with
Moline School District No. 40 to create the "Only Tap
Water Delivers" Contest. The contest was open to Moline
elementary school students. Participating Moline
students created wonderful art work that
revealed their knowledge and appreciation of the
important role water plays in the daily lives of those
living in our community.
Contest finalists were
publically recognized by Mayor Don Welvaert, the Moline
City Council and Moline Schools Superintendent Cal Lee
at the Committee-of-the-Whole meeting on May 10, 2011.
The winning art entry is eatured on the cover of
the
2010 water quality report, and was
inserted in
the Dispatch newspaper on Sunday, June
19. The art work
finalists are featured inside the 2010 report.
Contest entries were also displayed at the Moline Public
Library during the month of May.
