About the Contest:
In an effort to make its
annual water quality report more interesting and
appealing to the families that rely on Moline’s tap
water every day, the City of Moline partnered with
Moline School District No. 40 to create the "Only Tap
Water Delivers" Contest. The contest was open to Moline
elementary school students. Participating Moline
students created wonderful art work that
revealed their knowledge and appreciation of the
important role water plays in the daily lives of those
living in our community.
Contest finalists were
publically recognized by Mayor Don Welvaert, the Moline
City Council and Moline Schools Superintendent Cal Lee
at the Committee-of-the-Whole meeting on May 4, 2010.
The winning art entry will be featured on the cover of
the
2009 water quality report, and will be distributed in
the Dispatch newspaper on Saturday, June
19. The art work
finalists will be featured inside the 2009 report.
Contest entries will also be on display at the Moline Public
Library during the month of May.
