Moline City Administrator Receives 30 Year Municipal
Service Award

City Administrator Lew
Steinbrecher has received a 30 year service award from
the International City/County Management Association (ICMA).
The award was presented at the organization’s annual
conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in September. ICMA
Service Awards recognize and celebrate members'
dedication to public service and professional management
at the local level. Awards are granted at 10 and 20
years of local government service.
Lew Steinbrecher began his career in municipal
government in 1975 as Economic Development Director of
N.E. Michigan Council of Governments. He has
subsequently served in administrative positions at
various Midwestern municipalities since that time. Prior
to his appointment as City Administrator for the City of
Moline in October of 2004, Mr. Steinbrecher served as
City Administrator for the City of Kent, Ohio, from 1997
– 2004.
Mr. Steinbrecher’s extensive experience includes
personnel management, labor relations, community and
economic development, redevelopment of blighted areas,
downtown revitalization, land use planning, zoning and
code administration, budgeting and financial control,
intergovernmental relations, water/sewer/electric
utilities, public and media relations, and general
management.
Lew Steinbrecher holds a Bachelor of Science degree in
Resource Development from Michigan State University,
East Lansing, Michigan and a Master of Science in
Administration degree from Central Michigan University,
Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.
“Lew brings a wealth of experience to the City of
Moline, and we are fortunate to have him as City
Administrator,” said Mayor Don Welvaert. “We
congratulate him on his distinguished career and commend
him for his dedication to the residents of Moline and
the communities that he has served in the past.”
