Posted 10/14/05

City Administrator Lew Steinbrecher has received a 30 year service award from the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). The award was presented at the organization’s annual conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in September. ICMA Service Awards recognize and celebrate members' dedication to public service and professional management at the local level. Awards are granted at 10 and 20 years of local government service.

Lew Steinbrecher began his career in municipal government in 1975 as Economic Development Director of N.E. Michigan Council of Governments. He has subsequently served in administrative positions at various Midwestern municipalities since that time. Prior to his appointment as City Administrator for the City of Moline in October of 2004, Mr. Steinbrecher served as City Administrator for the City of Kent, Ohio, from 1997 – 2004.

Mr. Steinbrecher’s extensive experience includes personnel management, labor relations, community and economic development, redevelopment of blighted areas, downtown revitalization, land use planning, zoning and code administration, budgeting and financial control, intergovernmental relations, water/sewer/electric utilities, public and media relations, and general management.

Lew Steinbrecher holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Resource Development from Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan and a Master of Science in Administration degree from Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.

“Lew brings a wealth of experience to the City of Moline, and we are fortunate to have him as City Administrator,” said Mayor Don Welvaert. “We congratulate him on his distinguished career and commend him for his dedication to the residents of Moline and the communities that he has served in the past.”
