Riverlights Holiday Lighted Displays Begin on Saturday

Posted 11/14/06

Moline’s riverfront will be a little brighter this holiday season thanks to Riverlights, a new holiday event sponsored by the City of Moline Park & Recreation Department.

Six holiday themed lighted displays will grace Moline’s Ben Butterworth Memorial Parkway between 34th Street and 41st Street. The lighted displays will be lit beginning at 5 pm on Saturday, November 18th. Displays will be lit daily from 5 pm – 11 pm.

Displays were created and are being sponsored by: Moline Park & Recreation Department, Western Illinois University Quad City Campus, Don Lewis and Pami Triebel, Festival of Trees, Moline Activity Center, and Wal-mart.

All materials and lights used in the displays were furnished by the participating group or individual. Electrical power is being provided by the City of Moline.

The Lighting will continue west of 41st Street as the Telephone Pioneers Group will do their traditional lighting of the trees along the parkway.

Quad City residents and visitors are invited to enjoy the holiday lighted displays and the parkway lighting through January 1, 2007. The Park Department plans to make Riverlights an annual holiday tradition.

For more information on Riverlights, contact Moline Park Department staff members Lori Wilson (309) 736-5716 or Terri Webb (309) 736-5712.
