Help Light Moline’s Parkway with a Lighted Holiday Display

Posted 10/04/06

Moline’s riverfront will be a little brighter this holiday season with the addition of Riverlights, a new holiday event sponsored by the City of Moline Park & Recreation Department.

The Riverlights event will offer a limited number of groups or individuals the opportunity to design and set up lighted holiday theme displays along Moline’s Ben Butterworth Memorial Parkway. Each group will be provided with a specific area for their display, along with electrical power. The displays will be lit from November 17 – January 1, 2007.

The Moline Park Department anticipates that 11 spaces will be available for displays, which will be located along the Parkway between 34th Street and 41st Street. There is no fee to participate. However, all materials and lights used in the display must be furnished by the participating group.

“We are extending this invitation to local groups, organizations and individuals to help spread holiday cheer and to participate in something magical,” said Milt Hand, Park Director. “It is our hope that Riverlights will become a holiday tradition that will be enjoyed by thousands of Quad City residents and visitors each year.”

For more information, or to participate in Riverlights, contact Moline Park Department staff members Lori Wilson (309) 736-5716 or Terri Webb (309) 736-5712.
