Snow Removal from Sidewalks
Posted 12/21/06
‘Tis the season when the
snow starts to fall, and prompt snow removal becomes a
necessity for the safety of residents. The City of
Moline would like to remind home and business owners
that it is the property owner’s responsibility to remove
snow from sidewalks that border their property within 12
hours of a snowfall. Of particular concern are sidewalks
around area schools. “Walks that are not shoveled cause
an inconvenience to pedestrians and pose a safety hazard
for school children who utilize our sidewalks on a daily
basis,” said Mayor Don Welvaert.
Any accumulation of snow six inches or greater in depth
constitutes evidence of a violation. Failure to comply
with removal constitutes a public nuisance. Residents
are reminded that pushing, plowing or shoveling snow
into the roadway is prohibited.
Snow and/or ice complaints may be reported to
309-797-0458 or 309-797-0700. Residents with questions
or concerns about the city’s snow removal policy may
contact Moline’s Neighborhood Improvement Officer at
309-797-0443.
The City encourages everyone to clear their sidewalks
and help others who can’t. Help make Moline sidewalks
safe for all pedestrians this winter season.
