          Local Human Rights Training to be Offered
 

The Moline Human Rights Commission will present a one day training event on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, from 9 am – 4 pm, at the Moline Public Library, 3210 – 41st Street. The training will consist of two half-day sessions, focusing on Harassment in the Workplace and Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation in the Workplace. Cost is $15.00 for both sessions, and includes a box lunch. All interested persons are invited to attend.

Harassment in the Workplace: What Every Employee Should Know 9 am -12 pm
This seminar will examine harassment in its many forms, including harassment based on sex, race, color, national origin, religion, gender, disability, age and others. This presentation can help identify, prevent and eliminate harassment and unfavorable workplace outcomes such as legal liability, emotional stress, lower employee morale and reduced productivity.

Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation in the Workplace: Can’t We All Just Get Along? 1 pm – 4 pm
Seeking to bridge gaps between myth and fact pertaining to gender identity and sexual orientation in the workplace, this training will explore why we fear that which is different and look at alternatives to fear and intolerance by engaging in meaningful dialogue and activities designed to dispel myths of people who are perceived differently.

About the Commission: The Moline Human Rights Commission seeks to help end unlawful discrimination within Moline and to assist in creating a Rock Island County-wide Commission to serve all participating local governments and their respective citizens. The Commission meets the second Tuesday of the month January - September (except for June and July) at 4:00 pm, in Council Chambers, City Hall, or more frequently as determined by the Commission or its Chair.
