In honor of the
upcoming Earth Day, the City of Moline is sponsoring a
clean-up event on Saturday, April 17, from 8 am - Noon.
Volunteer organizations, neighborhood associations and
residents are invited to get outdoors and do their part
to make Moline clean and beautiful!
The clean-up event will focus on common areas shared by
residents throughout Moline. Specifically, the areas to
be cleaned are the rights-of-ways of city streets,
drainage areas and neighborhood parks.
Neighborhood associations, civic groups and individuals
are invited to participate. Large groups are asked to
pre-register using the new Keep Moline Beautiful website
at
www.keepmolinebeautiful.org by April 16. This
ensures that City crews will know where to go on
Saturday, April 17 to pick up the litter that is
collected. The City of Moline will provide vests, trash
bags and disposal of all items collected on April 17.
Residents are also encouraged to pick up loose litter in
their neighborhood and alley, but are not required to
register. The City asks residents to add their litter
bags to their regular garbage collection. Residents
should note that regular pick-up limits still apply and
only garbage that fits inside the cart will be
collected. No special pick-ups will apply.
Recognition by the Moline City Council will be given for
participants from the largest civic group, organization
or association, largest family, oldest and youngest
volunteers and most refuse collected. Groups are asked
to make the City aware if they feel someone in their
group qualifies for this recognition by calling the
Municipal Services Division at 309-524-2410.
The City of Moline would like to stress that this
Clean-up event is being held in honor of Earth Day, and
is for clean-up of city streets and parks only. No
special pick-ups will be conducted beyond those
volunteer groups that have pre-registered with the City.
The City is asking for city-wide participation to help
make the Great American Clean-up Event in Moline a
success. For more details on the Clean-up Day or to
sign-up to participate, visit the Keep Moline Beautiful
