[ARCHIVED] Yard Waste/Leaf Collection Program

Leaves

Leaf Vacuuming

Crews will start leaf vacuuming on October 14 and continue through December 13, 2019, weather permitting. The City is divided into three areas from Mississippi River to Rock River and crews work from north to south (1st Avenue to 52nd Avenue). Crews will begin working at the location they ended the previous day. Residents may visit the City’s website at www.moline.il.us for a map showing the daily location or by calling the Leaf Hotline at (309)524-2407 to listen to a pre-recorded message.  Residents should rake leaves close to, but not on the roadway surface. Rocks, sticks, or other debris should not be placed in the leaf pile as they can cause damage to the equipment that can cause delays in vacuuming while repairs are being made. Residents should refrain from parking vehicles in front of leaves during leaf collection periods, as this makes it difficult to maneuver the vacuums and the heat from car engines can ignite leaves.

Yard Waste Bag Stickers

Yard Waste Bag Stickers are not required October 14 through December 13, 2019. Leaves and grass clippings need to be placed in paper biodegradable bags of 30-gallon capacity or less that are available at local retailers. Yard Waste Bags will be picked up on scheduled garbage collection days.

Yard Waste Cart Program

The yard waste cart option requires that residents register with the Accounts and Finance Department located at 1630 8th Avenue or by calling (309)524-2070. There is a one-time prepayment of $78.96 for the use of the lawn waste cart and an annual fee of $100.00 for disposal of yard waste.

Each cart will hold the contents equivalent to 3 yard waste bags and should be placed at the curb or designated location for trash pick-up on the same day as your regular collection, placed at least 3 feet from your garbage and recycling carts. If you decide to use the cart option you may also use yard waste bags. Brush and limbs may be bundled outside of yard waste carts and will be collected as long as the bundles are no longer than 4 foot in length and one foot in diameter. Bundles may only be tied with twine or string and will be picked up with no additional charge.
