JDX 38 ST Routing.jpg

As noted on the attached diagram, three new traffic signals will be operational on the newly constructed overpass. The old lights at 38th Street and John Deere Road will be removed and all left turn lanes will be closed. This will allow for the uninterrupted flow of traffic.

Motorists heading westbound from the shopping center will use the overpass and then make a right turn on 38th Avenue (Coaltown Road) and then make a right onto westbound John Deere Road.

Motorists who are westbound on John Deere Road and heading into the shopping center will make a right turn on 38th Street, a left turn on the 41st Drive Overpass and go straight at the traffic lights at the intersection of 41st Avenue Drive and 38th Street.

This is an Illinois Department of Transportation project that has a total of $48 million programmed and is expected to take approximately 3 years to complete. McCarthy Improvement is the contractor for Phase I of the project which is expected to be completed in the Spring of 2015. Phase II requests for bids is expected to take place in April of 2015.
