The City of Moline is celebrating the completion of the newly restored Washington Square Apartments with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 2, at 316 17th Street. The public is invited to attend.
Funding for this project was provided through the Northwestern Illinois Neighborhood Stabilization Program Consortium, from the “American Recovery Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Neighborhood Stabilization Program 2” in order to acquire, demolish, rehab and construct properties that are foreclosed, abandoned and dilapidated. The City of Moline utilized a portion of these funds to rehab the building into ten apartments. This building had remained vacant for nearly a decade prior to the acquisition in lieu of foreclosure by the City.
All ten units are currently leased but applications may be submitted for placement on the waiting list.
