Residents, Business Owners & Visitors of Moline,
The City has received many complaints about snow removal in the City of Moline from this past weekend's storm. While City staff was mobilized immediately to begin plowing and has been plowing ever since, the City was too conservative in its use of salt on main and arterial roads. The City anticipated that it would be able to clear the rain, slush, and wet snow from the streets with a minimal use of salt before it all froze. That was not the case, and, as a result, roads are rough and covered in snow with patches of packed ice underneath. Snow plowing is not an exact science, and the decisions made in this situation proved incorrect.
I apologize for the inconvenience and frustration this situation has caused, and I assure you that City staff is doing all it can to rectify the situation as soon as possible. All available drivers and crews have been out for 24 hours since the beginning of the storm and are applying salt and plowing in order to clear the roads. Residential streets are also being plowed. Thank you for your patience in this matter.
